medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases
of the human foot.
Podiatrists treat common conditions that affect the foot and ankle, they may also perform surgery and prescribe medicines or orthopaedic devices.
Within
the United Kingdom the title “Podiatrist” is protected by law, meaning that it
can only be used by those registered with the Health Professions Council.
The
Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists is the Professional Body for
registered podiatrists.
